Have Some Cotton Candy

Sugary sweet is what I can savor from this good old puffy candy. It has been with us for many years, even when I was a toddler. Flavors may differ, transforms into many forms, and yet when you have it, happy memories comes with it. 

Either events like town fiesta, kid's party, school activities, family gathering, or just roaming around, this cotton candy never get out of the trend. '

Even sadness or desperation kicks in our lives, the sugar from this candy gives a little lift to our raving hearts.

The Kalesa Ride

A kalesa (also caritela/karitela) is a horse drawn calash used in the Philippines. It was one mode of transportation introduced to the islands in the 18th century by Spanish colonizers, and was initially reserved for only nobles and high-ranking civic officials.

Manila has still numerous kalesa ride particularly near Luneta where Dr. Jose Rizal shrine is located and Intramuros area where Fort Santiago can be found.

Some parts of the Philippines have still kalesa prevalent and use this as important mode of transportation. Vigan in Ilocos Sur still use this ride for tourism and Laoag City in Ilocos Norte have many and serves as regular transportation.

Getting Out of Debt Drowning

During my student years, I have to ask everything from my sponsors the things I needed – for my project, my thesis, my computer rentals, for book bindings, for fieldtrips, etc.

But when that days are over and I started working, I tasted the fruits of receiving a gratifying pay all just for myself, myself! While working for great companies, credit card offers and perks are heaping up just to get you as their customer. As confident as I was, I took all the proffers without second thoughts. For the first time, I have washed out my aplenty compensation for shopping, travel, entertainments, gifts, gimmicks, and mostly in dining.

Little did I know that I lost control of my cash flow? Every now and then and as frequently as weekly, bills are coming in. Credit card debts from every bank I could think of, utility tabs that keep impending and collectors keep knocking on my door.

Jealous

Jealous is an immature emotion and refers to negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person values, such as a relationship, friendship, or love.

I was a kid when I felt this primary emotion. Thriving and competing with our grandmother’s attention. Grandmother’s love is intoxicating with all the concentrated attention of care.  She buys everything that we wanted, spoiling us that even the impossible things that we thrive to acquire, she gave it all. Actually, the competition began when my brother was born. I am envious competing with my brother because of his feebleness that makes him more vulnerable to almost everything.

He was born with poor eyesight, his eyeballs are irregularly shaped like an egg, thus reading and seeing clearly makes it very difficult for him. Every time he eats, our grandmother debones the meat. Every time we go to church or any event, my brother was always on her side, clutching him like a baby. The attention already focused on him and mine to minimal.

Investing in Paper Assets

Majority of us, the main and only source of income is our job. Am I correct? In this case, we rely on the first type of asset: ourselves. Our physical self, that includes our strength and mental competence as in a sense "hired" by our employer for a certain salary per month or commission of the sales we make. The type of income that this asset produces is active income because it requires us to actively work for the money that we get.

If we are younger, this asset may increase the income it produces by working overtime, taking on jobs or sidelines that could augment our income. Of course, getting promoted in our jobs would also lead to bigger earnings through an increased salary.

However, our capabilities decline as the years go by. Why? We all know that our capabilities to do overtime work and other sidelines and our chances of getting promoted become less and less as our body grows older and approaches retirement age.

How Do You Want To Deal With Your Problems?

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words.

He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy.

That afternoon, the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, " Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write? "
